“We’re doing a sequel!  We’re back by popular demand!”  That’s right, The Muppets are back again, and this time they are on a world tour.  Having recently gotten back together in the last movie, The Muppets are ready to hit the road and take their show around the world., with their tour manager, Dominic Badguy (pronounced Bad-gee).  Trouble strikes though when the world’s most wanted criminal, Constantine, a frog who looks identical to Kermit except that he has a mole on his face, manages to escape prison in Siberia.  Shocking as it might sound, Dominic Badguy turns out to be working with Constantine the frog, and while on tour, Dominic tricks Kermit and puts Constantine in The Muppets Show, and Kermit gets sent to a prison in Siberia.  What will happen?  Will the Muppets complete their world tour without Kermit? You will just have to watch it to find out!

“We’re doing a sequel!  That’s what we do in Hollywood, and everybody knows the sequel’s never quite as good!”  These are a few lines from the opening number, “We’re Doing a Sequel”, and I disagree with it.  I think the sequel is just as good as the previous movie, if not better.  This film is stocked with cameos, including but not limited to, Tom Hiddleston, Lady GaGa, Josh Groban, Zach Galifianakis, Danny Trejo, and many more.  Some might think that the Muppets have been overdone, but I do not think so.  They are classic.  I really enjoyed the soundtrack and original songs in the movie.  It is also packed with humor, from Statler and Waldorf’s one-liners to the sarcastic Sam the Eagle.  I would recommend anyone wanting to see a friendly comedy to check out Muppets Most Wanted.

There recently was a controversy regarding the dress and hairstyle of an eight-year-old girl at Timberlake Christian School in Timberlake, Virginia. Sunnie Kahle was informed by her principal that TCS was not “the best place for Sunnie’s future education.” It is stated in a letter sent home to Sunnie’s grandparents that she is not girly enough for the Christian school. Sunnie has very short hair for an eight-year-old, and it looks like what would be called a pixie haircut. Sunnie likes to play outside while wearing jeans and large T-shirts with sneakers. She plays in the mud and plays ball. However, the principal of TCS has suggested taking Sunnie from her school because students have said they have a difficult time telling whether she is a girl or a boy, as well as classroom disturbances. She is considered not feminine enough to attend the school, even if she is a good student. Her grandparents have removed Sunnie from TCS because of this. Additionally the principal wrote, “We believe that unless Sunnie as well as her family clearly understand that God has made her female and her dress and behavior need to follow suit with her God-ordained identity, that TCS is not the best place for her future education.” Sunnie does understand that she is, in fact, a member of the female gender. Sunnie’s grandparents, who have adopted her, are extremely upset by this letter concerning their granddaughter. Sunnie’s grandmother, Doris, is shocked that anyone would discriminate a child as young as her granddaughter. To tell a child they can’t wear pants and have to wear pink and have their hair long and full of bows is unthinkable to Doris and her husband. They refuse to change who their granddaughter is based on the thoughts of one woman, the principal. However, the codes of conduct do state that enrollment for students who live in, condone, or support “sexual immorality; practicing homosexual lifestyle or alternative gender identity; promoting such practices; or otherwise having the inability to support the moral principles of the school.” Sunnie has indicated no behavior towards homosexuality, but only exhibits the usual behavior of an extreme tomboy.

Lovers of Disney, prepare yourselves. There is a conspiracy involving several beloved Disney movies, including the latest hit, Frozen. First of all, the movies are merely connected by location. And while the movies were produced years apart, their timelines seem to coexist. It begins in Frozen, when Elsa and Anna’s parents die while at sea. The ship is later found by Ariel and Flounder in The Little Mermaid while they are collecting treasures and fending off a shark. Both of these stories are based off of Hans Christian Anderson books. Frozen is also said to be set in Norway, based on architecture and style. The movie Tangled, based off of the fable Rapunzel, is set somewhere in Germany while Ariel’s story happens somewhere in Denmark. These countries are very close to one another. When Elsa’s coronation happens, there is a scene in which Anna runs excitedly about, meeting new people. This is where we see some oddly familiar characters. If you look closely you can recognized the hacked haircut Rapunzel received when Eugene saved her from Mother Gothel, along with the dashing posterior of one Eugene Fitzerbert. It could be that Rapunzel attended Elsa’s coronation because her parents died while traveling to Germany for Rapunzel’s wedding. Erie, isn’t it? This coincidence sounds awesome, and as well as diabolical. This took some planning on Disney’s part. I give props to Disney for this one.

The search for Malaysian flight MH370 has been called off due to the new focus on where possible debris is. Thanks to satellite images possible debris was seen near the southern tips of the Indian Ocean. Hishamuddin Hussein, a transport minister, states, “Until we find the debris-and confirm that the debris is MH370-it is very difficult for me to have closure fir the families.” The search zone for the missing Malaysian flight has been narrowed down to 621,632 square miles, which is an area almost the size of Alaska. Malaysian officials are focusing solely on the extreme southern tip off the plane’s possible flight path. Officials and other ministers are also asking themselves why the plane went so far off course in the first plane. The flight path, actually, was almost 1,000 miles off course. Satellite experts suggest that MH370 kept flying south and then continued to crash into a remote southern corner of the Indian Ocean.

Lately it seems to be a trend to want to live in a trade based society isolated from mankind in the Canadian wilderness.  Below are a list of twenty-five reasons why it may not be a good idea after all.

1) Bears

2) No toilet paper

3) No beds

4) No air conditioning

5) No medicine besides natural resources

6) No bandages

7) Limited shelter

8) Communism (which will inevitably fail)

9) Extreme cold

10) No internet

11) No electricity

12) Bugs

13) Parasites

14) No indoor plumbing of any kind

15) Wolves

16) No movies

17) No music you don’t make yourselves

18) Drinking water must be found and irrigated

19) No contact with anyone you care about outside of the community

20) No well-seasoned meat

21) The next generation will have no vaccines

22) War (once your Communist system fails)

23) You have to build everything yourself

24) There is nothing to complain about that can’t be responded to with “well maybe we shouldn’t have moved to THE CANADIAN WILDERNESS!”

Warning: if you hate big dramatic call-to-arms articles you should probably stop reading.  In America we are facing a dire crisis.  We have become sheep.  We have become in many ways blind followers of the media, pop culture, and society.  In youth culture emphasis is placed less on finding one’s self, wisdom, or even helping others who are in need, and more on… and I cringe saying this… swag.  Material possessions or even just societal acceptance have completely infected youth culture’s extremely vast majority’s entire existence.  What is truly important in life has been completely removed from our society in favor of empty validation.

In this world we are given a choice, freedom or acceptance. This choice is to pick from individuality and possible loneliness, or acceptance and possible complete loss of identity.  Sometimes you get your choice sometimes you get neither, and sometimes you get both, but it is still a choice we all make.  The scary thing is just how happily and without hesitation everyone around me chooses the second one.  Conformity (in literally every sense of life) rules over most everyone I meet.  They all dress, talk, and act the same.  They all watch the same shows, listen what the media tells them, and wish to “fit in”.

Society scares me.  Politicians and corporations manipulate and exploit the unaware uninhibitedly.  Not only that but people who are nothing more than votes or dollars to these people don’t become angered by their dehumanization, but rather wish to be the more like a cog in a machine than they even were in the first place by trying to be “cool”, be “normal”, or as was earlier mentioned “fit in”.  Normalcy is conformity, cool has come to mean more normal than others instead of more unique, and fitting in is simply wishing not to shine bright as the person you really are.  As author of this article I beg you, do not become yet another cog in the conformist machine.  Love who you are.   You only get one chance at this life… why waste it?

If you have entered a school or gas station bathroom in the last few decades you have probably been witness to the atrocious vandalism that is the writing on walls.  At first you probably gave a glance of disgust and looked away, but I think a bit deeper about it.  Whatever that person wrote is some message they truly cared about or thought they would share with the world for some reason worthy enough to them to take the time to write it.  Writing on walls is really more of a true and honest version of what twitter dreams of being, the true, uncensored, and free opinionsm, views, and messages of the people.  Can they be vulgar and destructive yes, but it is a small price to pay for free speech to be expressed across our fine nation.

John Anderson, 53, was just visiting the Grand Canyon with his family when suddenly things took a turn for the worst. Anderson, from Grapevine, Texas, fell off the rim of the Grand Canyon about 350 ft. The fall was said to be accidental as investigators say they think he was trying to retrieve something, possibly a hat, when he fell. Witnesses say they remember him being by a small rock, or barrier, but no one saw him free fall off the rim of the canyon. Rangers found his body and tried reviving him, but unfortunately their efforts were unsuccessful. A helicopter was then brought in to remove his body. Annual averages of 12 people die at the Grand Canyon out of the 4.5 million that visit. Yet only two or three of them are caused from actually falling off the rim. Other incidents can include anything from suicide, natural causes, medical issues, and traffic crashes. Visitors should be very aware of their surroundings when visiting a place like the Grand Canyon, and rangers warn all visitors to watch where they’re stepping and to not get too close to the edge.

What makes you different makes you dangerous.  One choice can transform you.  Both are taglines from the latest blockbuster, Divergent.  This film is based off the book (you would never guess) Divergent by Veronica Roth.  This dystopian film revolves around the character Tris Prior, a girl who has been trying to find her place in the world.  In their society the people are split into five groups, or factions.  Each faction highlights a different value.  Tris was born into Abnegation, which is the faction that values selflessness.  Tris feels that she has never really been very selfless.  When taking the aptitude test, the test that is supposed to help one decide what faction he or she should join at the Choosing Ceremony, (which is when every 16 year old decides what faction to spend the rest of their lives in) Tris’s test results are inconclusive. This is a rarity.  She is informed that she is Divergent, something very rare and very dangerous.  She is instructed to never tell anybody this.  So at the Choosing Ceremony, instead of choosing Abnegation, she chooses Dauntless. This faction that values courage and bravery.  At the Dauntless headquarters, Tris meets Four, a fully initiated male member of Dauntless, who is there to help oversee the training of the new initiates.  Tris soon finds that training and keeping her secret are harder than she has ever imagined, especially since those who are divergent are being hunted down and murdered.  DUN DUN DUN!

Overall, I have a love/hate relationship with this movie.  Being a huge fan of the book, I had relatively high expectations for this movie.  I loved it because the plot for the most part follows that of the book.  They also kept some of the dialogue from the book and added it to the movie.  The casting I thought was pretty decent, all portrayed their characters successfully and made some interesting character development.  The music I thought gave a perfect feeling and vibe to this action-packed movie.  Now, why I didn’t like it.  There are some very minor plot changes from the book.  Some characters were completely cut from the plot, like Uriah.  They also cut certain dialogue from the book.  Granted, they can’t have all the dialogue from the book, but they cut some of the best lines.  If you haven’t noticed, all of my reasons for not liking it is because I read the book.  So, basically, if you haven’t read the books and have no expectations for this movie, you will probably like, if not love it.  If you have read the books, you will still like it, though you may be slightly disappointed at some points in the movie.
