Four years ago, OLSH’s forensics team was started. Forensics is a speech and debate competition that helps students sharpen their public speaking skills in a variety of ways. Over the years OLSH has been building a strong team and this year it is going strong.
Over the weekend, the forensics team had a strong showing at the North Allegheny tournament. Oscar Matous competed vigorously in the category of humorous interpretation, as did Ellen DiMartini and Jacob Dickey in Oral interpretation of Prose and Poetry. They all had very strong performances including a 6th place finish by Jacob Dickey in Prose and Poetry.
Despite the team’s already blooming crop of current talent it is in dire need of more competitors for future tournaments, and all students involved are strongly encouraged to attend the team’s next completion this Saturday at Pine-Richland or any tournament afterwards. Talk to Mrs. Cerchiaro or Ms. Long if you are interested in joining!
